Unlike the usual rendition, which can be described as “Beautiful, in a ‘being chased by an angry mob’ kind of way”…this one is just plain beautiful. It’s also completely unexpected if you’re used to the regular Unaccompanied Suite.
Also: It would not cause Josh Lyman to have massive panic attacks in the middle of a Christmas party because it sounds nothing like sirens. So there’s that.
“I was in a bathrobe.”
“You sat in paint.”
“I was singing and dancing.”
“You were happy.”
“I threw my drink in the air!”
“Yeah, but not that much of it landed on your head.”

Owls Are Not What They Seem: Last two episodes of season 4 West Wing were so good and also so…
That song, omg. Of course, I will always associate it with the time I scared the fuck out of myself because I was waiting for the Metro at like 11:30 one night, everything’s empty, and that song comes on all of a sudden. I have never dashed onto a well-lit train so fast in my life. But it was SO well-done. Then Sorkin left. And the resolution of it all was so awful…especially after he said later what he planned on doing with the resolution originally, and it was so good and interesting and complicated…and then we got, well, what we got. But the final 2 of 4 were amazing, and the final 2 of 5 were in-fucking-sane, they were so good.Last two episodes of season 4 West Wing were so good and also so emotional. That montage of different scenes in the episode next to last when Massive Attack was playing in the background was amazing. The second that music started I knew something bad was about to happen, it was so haunting and…
Oh I would love to read what Sorkin had planned originally, once I’m finished with all the seasons, I guess I’ll come to you to ask for more information then if you don’t mind :) It’s just so sad that first Sam left, then Sorkin, I hope no other important actors/ behind the scenes people will leave the show in the seasons I have yet to watch.
No one else leaves, at least not that I remember. There are people who don’t stay working in the West Wing once everything goes off on campaigns, but we still see them so it’s not so bad. Though there is one death that literally couldn’t be helped because the actor died…not sure if you know about that one or not so I’m not saying anything else except that I bawled when it happened and I bawl when I watch the episodes even now, so.

I’ve just watched the last West Wing episode with Sam Seaborn in it. According to imdb he will have some cameos in 7th season but in general, he’s gone. I shouldn’t be so upset because he’s not my favourite character, but I loved his friendship with…
By “didn’t like the direction the show was taking,” he meant he wasn’t the star. He decided to leave literally a week or two after every single other regular cast member was nominated for an Emmy and he wasn’t. The Emmy noms came right around the time of renegotiation, so everyone else got raises - originally, Martin had been making the most, then Rob, then most of the rest were kind of even (John and Allison and Richard and I think also Dule and Janelle, though the two of them might have been on a fourth tier). With the raises, it was like “Martin…then everyone else.”
Though, from watching things he’s done since, he tends to get sick of shows after doing them for exactly three and a half years. West Wing, Brothers & Sisters… I adore his characters but he’s kind of an ass about stuff unfortunately.

I shouldn’t be so upset because he’s not my favourite character, but I loved his friendship with Toby and he was an important member of senior staff so I’m really sad to know he won’t come back.
Sam leaving broke me. Like, bawling for hours when I found out, kind of broke me. He was my favourite, and he was so idealistic and smart…and the scene in the bar with him and Toby about how he was going to lose…and why in the world did they think it was ok to end it like that and have it make sense? He was going out there to win an election and would return if he lost. He lost…but didn’t come back? WHY AARON SORKIN WHY!?

The West Wing S04E01E02 20 Hours in America
Toby’s about to murder someone.
Not my absolutely favourite gif from this episode, but pretty high on the list. Toby does a lot of his “I’m going to kill you” face in these two hours…

“And by the way. While you may have mistaken this for your monthly meeting of the Ignorant Tight-Ass Club, in this building when the President stands? Nobody sits.”
…Yeah, I don’t want to think about the fact that I’ve been quoting this entire speech for more than a decade now.
