Yes, Ryan Murphy, some fans wanted full-on naked making out. Most of us realized this isn’t Queer as Folk and just wanted a sex scene where the characters actually touched and didn’t have their pelvises so far apart on the bed it looked like they might fall off if they moved wrong.
The fact that you can’t tell the difference makes me want to stop blaming the network and other writers and directors I can’t stand, and start blaming everything on you, personally. Because I’ve been defending you for like two years now - how it’s not your fault when background touches get cut, how you had nothing to do with the box scene or the Sugar Shack kiss getting pretty blatantly left on the cutting room floor, to say nothing of all the sex scene portions Darren and Chris filmed that we never saw. When others would use your name as shorthand for anything they disliked on the show, from plots to specific one-liners, I was always quick to point out that other people were at fault. (Usually I blamed Ian, tbh.) But with this one quote, that’s done. Because with one quote you made very clear that you know we’re not happy and you find nothing of value in our complaints. You made perfectly clear that you are involved in decisions about what to show or not and that you’re happy with what we’ve seen - and that in your mind, what we have seen so far is “equal” to straight couples and anything else is asking for special treatment.
